What Does Our School Need?

Goal projects cost $300,000-500,000.

➤ Auditorium, including HVAC upgrade for temperature control with minimization of sound from HVAC (particularly during warm months), theater lights, audiovisual equipment installation, and ADA accessibility.

➤ Bathrooms: Facilities must be upgraded for high school students to enjoy a healthier, safer, and more comfortable environment. Last year's $450,000 capital funding win will upgrade some bathrooms, but not all.

➤ Classrooms, including audiovisual equipment installation, projectors, HVAC upgrade to reduce noise, sound paneling, appropriate closet space, and storage.

➤ Library: Integrate Quiet Zones, Collaborative Areas. The Quiet zones would include sound absorbing material on walls, floors, and ceilings to reduce noise and individual study carrels to create personal space with minimal visual distractions, and adjustable lighting. Collaborative Areas would facilitate group learning and project work, with acoustic panels to prevent noise from traveling throughout the library, and ample power outlets to support digital devices.

➤ Science Labs, installing ventilation upgrades in the labs and a ventilation duct in the chemical storage closet, HVAC upgrade for temperature control, the construction of dedicated spaces for incubators, autoclaves, and microscopes, and cubbies for lab coats/backpacks.

➤ Stairwells: Demolish and rebuild crumbling walls in some of the stairwells. The actual stairs are worn down and uneven due to age, and banisters are too low because the building is a former elementary school.
